  • We lost my father on December 21st and my great niece the very next day in a tragic accident that claimed the lives of 3 young girls. Chris and his entire staff at Burroughs Funeral Home literally held us together and helped us through the worst nightmare imaginable. Every single person we had contact with was beyond professional, they were compassionate, patient, and loving. This is our first experience with Burroughs and we hope it is the last for a long, long while. But, when the need arises again, we will call Burroughs.

my dear parents passed away at the same time due to an accident. i was not prepared for that. burroughs misspelled my fathers name on the death certificate - as a result, i could not access their funds to pay for expenses immediately due to the error. when i first met w burroughs, it was all MONEY. how will you pay? etc. they attempted to get my parents life insurance assigned to them for the expenses. My head was reeling from losing 2 parents, and they were trying to get access to payment through their life insurance. Had Burroughs not, misspelled my fathers name on the death certificate, I would have been able to pay them immediately, but that error is a huge one in the state of south carolina. So, i had to wait until the state/courts could sort it out. The day I was given the corrected death certificate, then I could petition the court to become executor of the estate & then have access to my parents funds for death expenses etc. This error by Burroughs held up my ability to get a clearance to become executor by 2 months. The day that i was given executor status, i accessed the funds, drove to Burroughs to make the payment. The blonde woman (who clearly has no place dealing w grieving people) informed me that I owed and extra $200 in interest due to the lateness of the payment, which was of course due to the fact that Burroughs did not spell my parents name correctly on the death certificate. Their own mistake cost me even more as they charged me interest. Then, (best part yet people) I learned much later that these horrible people, put a lien on the estate for their services just 2 months after my parents death, which i couldnt pay them for due to their mistake. I had to pay another $500 in attorneys fees to clear that with my documented check written on the same day that I was given status as the executor. Yes, its all documented and dated. Burroughs is very lucky that i have not pursued a lawsuit against their entity. Bottom line - these are not good people; I lost both my parents and this is how I was treated.

  • You can tell when a place is run by good people. I came here with my hedgehog to have him cremated. I actually felt a little weird because I had never had a pet cremated before, but they made me feel so comfortable and they were so understanding about the loss of my little friend.

I can't imagine a better experience. They gave me an ink print of his little paw, and they had a beautiful selection of urns and boxes to put his ashes in. I was so happy to have everything done on one place and by people who knew exactly what I wanted when I walked in.

I highly recommend these folks. They're friendly. professional, and knowledgeable. Thank you guys so much!
